MUSIC POWER

The Thailand International Wind Symphony Competition 2019 is the result of a collaboration between the King Power Company (The King of Duty Free) and the College of Music, Mahidol University. This TIWSC competition is open to anyone, regardless of age or nationality. It is an opportunity to promote Wind Symphony music in Thailand and a chance for the event to bring together musicians from different countries. In addition to this the competition promotes cultural art through music, and is a valuable youth activity that empowers them with skills, knowledge and development in music at an international level.

Deadline for application is January 29, 2019

Audition Round
The audition round for selected competitors will be published through Facebook live and on the competition page on February 12-13, 2019.

Audition Round Result
The names of the ensembles that pass the audition round will be announced on February 15, 2019 on the website www.music.mahidol.ac.th/tiwsc. The number of ensembles that are accepted for the Semi-final round are as follows:
Class A, up to 10 bands
Class B, up to 10 bands
Class C, up to 16 Small Wind Ensembles
Class D, up to 16 Small Wind Ensembles

Semi-Final Round
The semi-final round will take place on April 1 – 4, 2019, with other details as follows:

April 4th, 2019 at the Prince Mahidol Hall, Mahidol University
Class A is divided so that 10 bands compete per day, with bands allocated performance slots between 9:00 to 17:00 at the Prince Mahidol Hall, Mahidol University. Slot times are delegated by blind drawing in a raffle style process.

April 3rd, 2019 at the Prince Mahidol Hall, Mahidol University
Class B is divided so that 10 bands compete per day, with bands allocated performance slots between 9:00 to 17:00 at the Prince Mahidol Hall, Mahidol University. Slot times are delegated by blind drawing in a raffle style process.

April 2nd, 2019 at the Music Auditorium, College of Music, Mahidol University
Class C is divided so that 16 small wind ensembles compete per day, with ensembles allocated performance slots between 9:00 to 17:00 at the Music Auditorium, College of Music, Mahidol University, College of Music, Mahidol University. Slot times are delegated by blind drawing in a raffle style process.

April 1st, 2019 at the Music Auditorium, College of Music, Mahidol University
Class D is divided so that 16 small wind ensembles compete per day, with ensembles allocated performance slots between 9:00 to 17:00 at the Music Auditorium, College of Music, Mahidol University, College of Music, Mahidol University. Slot times are delegated by blind drawing in a raffle style process.
Semi-Final Round Result
The semi-final results will be announced at the performance venue following the final contestant in each category for each day of the semi-finals.

Final Round
The final round will take place on April 6th, 2019, at Prince Mahidol Hall, Mahidol University, with other details as follows:
Class A, 5 bands Time: 16:30-19:30
Class B, 5 bands Time: 13:00-16:30
Class C and Class D, 5 ensembles for each Time: 8:00-12:00

Final Round Result
The final results for all categories will be announced at the conclusion of all performances.

Competition Prizes
The total prize value for the competition is 4,330,000 Baht (Four million three hundred thirty thousand Baht), as detailed in the competition rules.

Note: The amount of band passed to semi-final round depends on committee and the committee’s decision is considered final.
